Knitorious

This past Wednesday I went to my first meeting of "Knitorious" a group of knitters that hang out at the local Borders two Wednesday evenings a month. I heard about them from a knitter who was in the Fair Isle hat class with me two months ago and it's taken me this long to get myself organized and actually go! They post their meeting dates on http://www.meetup.com/ (a really cool idea in itself - I found a ton of knitting groups that meet, but Knitorious is the one closest to my house).

This is a lively group of women - there were 14 of us this week - all ranging in ages from twenties to retirees. New knitters to well-seasoned knitters but all very friendly, chatty and eager to show off what they were working on, look at what I was working on, talk yarn and future projects. Thankfully I found them when I did because the group has become big enough that Wednesday they decided to close it to new members - whew!

I'm looking forward to making some new friends, getting out of the house by myself two nights a month and learning some new knitting skills as well.

Yay! A new knitting group! I can't wait to see you report back all the new things you learn. :-)
