I know it doesn't feel like spring, but my stir-craziness is getting the best of me.
I wore skirts almost all last week. Today I'm wearing capri pants (with knee-high boots, of course). I cut all of my hair off this past weekend, and it made me realize that I am NOT MADE for long hair.
But spring is not only a time for being unseasonably ridiculous--it's also a time to finish...Christmas presents?
That's right, I have a confession to make: I have yet to finish my grandmother's and niece's holiday gifts.
I did finish one project for my grandmother, the Bainbridge scarf. I had initially promised to make a lace scarf for her out of the GORGEOUS handdyed purple sock yarn (courtesy of Kristin Roach and Green Prairie Fibers), but I kept screwing up the lace pattern. This yarn double-stranded, I discovered, was the perfect gauge for Bainbridge, and it turned out beautifully--I'll take photographs this weekend and post them here.
As an addendum to her gift, I started on My So-Called Scarf a few days ago. So far the pattern is simple but fun, and it's perfect for the handpainted Misti Alpaca I'm using.
But the gift I'm feeling most guilty about is my niece's sweater. All I have left is seaming up the sleeves. Usually I'm not intimidated by any knitting-related task, but I dread seaming these sleeves. I just want this sweater to be perfect...which it won't be. But I have to make myself do this.
The Mrs. Darcy cardigan for myself just needs sleeves as well. I've been too lazy to pick up stitches for it, but I need to get that finished...in time for spring!
And the post comes full circle.
My body is telling me to stop hibernating, and I'm listening...even if I freeze my ass off in the process.

You cut your hair????? OMG i want to see it. What are you doing for lunch today? Email me.
I can't wait to see your hair! And I share your fear about seaming your niece's sweater's sleeves and having it look less than perfect. I'm having the same trouble with my 3timeschic sweater from Knitty :-(
